Water Resources And Environmental Depth Manual is intended to provide comprehensive coverage of the civil PE water resources and environmental depth exam specifications as presented by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). It should be used in conjunction with the Civil Engineering Reference Manual (GERM), which covers the wide range of topics on the civil PE breadth exam.

Water resources and environmental engineering is different from many other disciplines of civil engineering. It requires an understanding of naturally occurring processes that respond to unpredictable forces of nature. As nature is unpredictable, calculations are usually based on conservative estimations and frequently rely on the professional judgment of the engineer. Yet, because professional judgment must often be exercised, reported design values will vary from one engineer to the next. The PE exam cannot allow for such variability. Therefore, we’ve written this book so that the methodologies you’ll need to solve problems on the exam are the methodologies presented in each chapter and used in the examples and practice problems.
